The Australian Society for Quality™ (AuSQ) is Australia's leading independent certification authority for the recognition of Lean and Six Sigma capability.

Established in 2010, AuSQ was founded to create a nationally recognised benchmark for Lean and Six Sigma certification in Australia. Since then, AuSQ has certified more than 3,000 practitioners, helping individuals and organisations build capability, improve performance, and drive continuous improvement.

AuSQ provides independent verification of professional competency in the application of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, principles, and tools across multiple levels of expertise. Our certification assures employers and industry that practitioners have demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and practical experience required to meet recognised professional standards.

CERTIFICATION PROCESS

In partnership with our approved training partners, the Australian Society for Quality™ (AuSQ) provides independent certification for Lean and Six Sigma practitioners.

AuSQ's certification process is aligned with internationally recognised standards, requiring candidates to successfully complete accredited training, competency assessments, and practical project work before certification is awarded.

ALIGNMENT WITH ISO 18404.

ISO 18404:2015 defines the competencies for the attainment of specific levels of competency with regards to Six Sigma, Lean, and "Lean & Six Sigma" in individuals.

AuSQ’s ISO 18404-aligned Black Belt, Green Belt and Lean practitioner certifications are consistent with the Standard’s certification process:

1. Training

AuSQ’s Black Belt, Green Belt and Lean practitioner training are based on the international standard, to ensure internationally recognised standard or consistent approach.

2. Project Work

Skills and competence are developed through application, and by completing Lean and/or Six Sigma business improvement projects where individuals are able to put into practice what they have been taught. Submission of a portfolio of evidence of practice is required.

3. Individual Assessment

AuSQ assesses an individual’s competency against the Standard through approved knowledge tests (paper or online).

Design for Six Sigma and Yellow Belt are not included in ISO 18404:2015.
